10. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and that allow an analysis of how you use this website.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google beforehand within the member states of the European Union or other states which are parties to the European Economic Area.

Only in exceptional cases the full IP address will be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website in order to provide to the website operator reports on website activity and other services related to website activity and internet usage. The IP address which is transmitted within the framework of the Google Analytics activities will not be transferred in connection with other Google data.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by means of a particular setting of your browser software; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website in full. You can furthermore prevent Google from collating and processing the data generated by the cookie which relate to your use of the website (including your IP address) by downloading, installing and using a browser plugin which is provided behind this link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de .

Further information and details about the terms of use and data protection and privacy are provided here: http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html and here: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/

We would like to point out that on this website Google Analytics has been extended by the code “anonymizeIp” in order to ensure an anonymized collection and collation of IP addresses (so-called IP masking).

11. Google Tag Manager

This website uses the Google Tag Manager. This service helps to manage web page tags via a user interface. Google Tool Manager only implements tags. This means: no cookies are used, and no personal data is collected. The Google Tool Manager triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data. However, Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If a deactivation has been effected on the domain or cookie level, it will remain effective for all tracking tags as long as they are implemented by means of the Google Tag Manager.

12. Wordpress.com-Stats

This website uses WordPress Stats, a tool which provides statistics on visitor traffic and is operated by Automattic, Inc., 60 29th Street # 343, San Francisco, CA 94110-4929, USA, using the tracking technology of Quantcast Inc., 201 3rd St, Floor 2, San Francisco, CA 94103-3153, USA. WordPress.com-Stats uses so-called “cookies”, i.e. text files that are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is stored on a server in the USA. The IP address is anonymized immediately after the processing of the data and prior to its storage. You can prevent the installation of cookies by means of a particular setting of your browser software; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website in full. You can object to the collection and use of the data with effect for the future by clicking on the link “Click here to opt-out” to set an opt-out cookie in your browser: https://www.quantcast.com/opt-out/. If you delete all cookies on your computer, you must set the opt-out cookie again.

13. Gravatar Comment Images

This site uses the external avatar service Gravatar, which is provided by Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street # 343, San Francisco, CA 94110-4929, USA (“Automattic”) for the display of user images (“avatars”) in the comments.

The e-mail address provided in the comments will be transmitted to Gravatar in order to display a user image associated with this e-mail address within the comments. The e-mail address will be encrypted and transmitted to the Gravatar servers, which in turn will deliver the user images to our website; they will then be included in the comments on our site.

By displaying the images, Gravatar can save the users’ IP addresses. For more information and details about how Gravatar collates data please refer to Gravatar’s privacy policy at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If a user does not want an image, which is linked to his/her e-mail address with Gravatar, to appear in the comments, s/he should use an e-mail address to comment which is not known to Gravatar.

14. Disqus Comment System

This site uses DISQUS, an interactive commenting system that allows the user to comment on all web sites that use DISQUS as a commenting system with just one login. In addition, users can log in via existing accounts on Facebook (via Facebook Connect), Twitter, Yahoo and OpenID. You can also leave a comment without registering and log in (as a “guest”). The DISQUS technology is provided by company DISQUS, Inc., 301 Howard St, Floor 3, San Francisco, California-94105, USA. The collation of the data in question are subject to DISQUS’s terms of use and privacy policy, which can be found at: https://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/466259-privacy-policy and https://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/466260-terms-of-service. If you sign in via your Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo or OpenID account, these providers may also collect, store and use data. Details can be found in the privacy policy of the respective providers.

DISQUS will provide fme with the users’ e-mail addresses and the IP addresses, which are used with a comment. fme will only use such information for the purpose of contacting you in connection with your use of DISQUS, for example, in case of queries regarding your user comments. We will, of course, not disclose any of such data to any third party.

fme reserves the right to delete inappropriate comments or comment spam.

15. Social Plug-ins

This website has integrated social media / social sharing features. However, fme has decided to use the Shariff script to protect website users.

fme does not collect any personal data by means of social plugins or subject to the fact that a user uses a social plugin. In order to prevent data from being transmitted to service providers in the USA without your knowledge, fme uses the so-called Shariff solution, which ensures that no personal data is passed on to the providers of the individual social plugins when you merely visit this website. Only if you click on one of the social plugins, data may be transmitted to the service provider and stored there.

More information about the Shariff solution can be found on the site of the provider of the service, i.e. Heise Medien GmbH & Co. KG: http://m.heise.de/ct/artikel/Shariff-Social-Media-Buttons-mit-Datenschutz-2467514.html

16. Newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter on this website, fme will use the information you provide for this purpose only or in order to provide relevant information on this service or the pertinent registration. fme uses the newsletter software of the provider CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Mühlenstr. 43, 26180 Rastede (Germany), for the administration and sending of newsletters.

If you wish to receive the newsletter, please provide a valid e-mail address. We will further store the IP address you use to sign up for the newsletter, and the date on which you order the newsletter. This data will serve fme as evidence in the case of any misuse if an unknown e-mail address is registered for the newsletter. In addition, to ensure that an e-mail address is not added to a distribution list by any third party, fme operates under the “double opt-in” procedure. In the course of this process, log records are kept, derived from the user’s order for the newsletter, the dispatch of the confirmation e-mail and the receipt of the confirmation of the registration.

At any time you have the option to revoke your consent to the storage of the data, your e-mail address and the newsletter dispatch with effect for the future. For the revocation fme provides a link in each newsletter. You can also opt for sending your written revocation to one of the above-stated contacts.

17. Data Economy

The pertinent legislation contains many storage obligations and deadlines. In accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data economy, fme will store personal data only as long as necessary or required by law. If the purpose of the information collected does not apply or if the storage period ends, fme will block or delete the data.

18. Data Security and Safety

In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure and to ensure the correctness of the data and to prevent unauthorized use of the data, fme uses appropriate technical and organizational procedures. Nevertheless, electronic communication is never absolutely secure. This means that all data and information that you submit to fme voluntarily could be obtained by third parties by way of unlawful data procurement or theft. Therefore fme does not assume any responsibility or liability for the disclosure of information due to errors and/or unauthorized access during data transmission by third parties.
