Challenge

Dr. R. Pfleger GmbH has been using a document management system (DMS) since 2005 to support various business processes. Subsequent expansions of the area of application proved to be problematic and cost-intensive. The low level of market penetration of the previous vendor also had a negative effect on the cost of the system and created an unwanted dependency. The old system had to be replaced by a new DMS that would fulfill the original criteria but be more flexible to adapt and guarantee a greater degree of independence from suppliers through a larger market presence.

Solution

fme supported the medium-sized life sciences company in implementing a new DMS landscape based on OpenText Documentum as well as in implementing two D2-based applications built off of this landscape. Change control management now enables Dr. Pfleger to, among other things, manage change requests as well as an approval process including risk assessment and the assignment, execution, and inspection of measures in a validated environment (GxP).

Document archiving simplifies the creation and management of (collective) documents and boasts a SAP connection as well as the integration of a scanner, mailbox, and much more. Further possible areas of application for the DMS are contract management, packaging management, department-specific data storage, and the management/approval of access and IT documentation.
